Here is our evolving tips list for earthlings traveling through Thailand˙ If you have something interesting to add to the list, post them in the comments˙ We’ll post the ones that are too true not to post and the ones that make us giggle a little˙

Sawadeeka is hello in Thai˙ Sawadeekrap for men˙ The longer you hold the “ka” or “krap” the better. 😉

  The obvious things to taste while in Thailand: Pad Thai, Massaman Curry, Tom Yan, Thai Ice Tea & Mango Sticky Rice˙ The “not-so obvious”˙˙˙

3˙ Get a Thai Massage˙

Wat is “temple” in Thai˙ And, there’s a lot of wats in Thailand˙

4˙ Go to Khao San Road one night and try a scorpion, tarantula or grasshopper˙ They taste like…  scorpion, tarantula or grasshopper˙ Protein, yummm!

5˙ There are a TON of buddhas all over Thailand˙ Our favorite was The “Chilling” Buddha at Wat Pho˙ But,you may know it as The Reclining Buddha˙The Buddha is 15m (49ft) high and 46m(150ft) long, and it is one of the largest Buddha statues in Thailand˙

6˙ Wat is “temple” in Thai˙ And, there is a lot of wats n Thailand˙

Wat Arun is the Temple of the Dawn˙ You can climb this temple˙ Climb it while you still can˙

8˙ Don’t dis the King or Queen˙ Thailand takes its’ monarchy seriously˙

9˙ Watch your feet & other people’s head˙ In Thailand, your head is the highest (most honored) part of the body˙ It is seen as disrespectful to put your hands on anyone’s head˙ Your feet, being the lowest, should not be used to point at anyone˙ Especially, do not use your feet to point at someone head˙ * This got us thinking˙˙˙ what are the rules for people without arms?

10˙ See the city of Bangkok  from the Chao Phraya River by ferry˙

11˙ The actual name of Bangkok is “Krung Thep Mahanakhon amon Rattanakosin mahintara ayuthaya mahadilok phoP noppharat Ratchathani Burirom udomratchaniwet mahasathan amon piman awatan Sathit sakkathattiya witsanukam Prast˙” It means “The city of angels, the great city, the residence of the Emerald Buddha, the impregnable city of God Indra, the grand capital of the world carved with nine precious gems, happy city, rich within the enormous Royal Palace similar to the heavenly kingdom ,realm of the reincarnated god, a city offered to Indra and built by Vishnukarn˙ ” Yes, it’s the longest city name on Earth˙ Wanna hear it in song?

12˙ Take the train to discover the ancient temple ruins of Ayutthaya, the first capital of Thailand˙ Once in Ayutthaya, find a local tuk-tuk driver and they will take you to all the sites of Ayutthaya for around 900 THB˙

13˙ You should really try  Thai massage˙

14˙ Go to the North: Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai & Pai˙ The north of Thailand is known for cheap prices, nature & feeding elephants˙ It is the cheapest touristic area and you can’t miss it˙ In these  3 towns, you can visit temples, buy at the night markets, hike the jungle, receive a thai cooking lesson (ask for with Tyk in Chiang Rai )˙ Go to a karaoke bar and sing all night with your new Thai friends˙ Then, you can take a break and go hang out with the Aka tribe, where the women elongate their necks with coils˙

Visit Maya Bay and see why they used this location for the movie, The Beach

15˙ After this, you may want to get Aromatherapy Thai Massage˙

16˙ Go to the South: Pukhet, Krabi and Phi Phi islands˙ The South is known for its beaches, great scuba diving, snorkeling and partying˙ Phi phi islands are a paradise to snorkel & scuba diving˙ Definitely go island hopping! Relax at Long beach (walk through the jungle and come back by long tail boat or just walking on the sand)˙ Don’t forget to see the island & take pictures from all the viewpoints on the island˙ And, for kicks, visit Maya Bay˙ This is the beach used in the movie The Beach˙

17˙ Looking to destress? Patong beach is the party place without any doubt˙ On Bangla Road, you’re likely to see Thai people and backpackers dancing, singing, laughing, drinking & partying˙ (even if it’s raining!)

18˙ In case I forgot, Thailand is known for great massages˙ 😉

19˙ Kopkunka is Thank you (women) / Kopkunkrap for men˙
