Here is our evolving tips list for earthlings traveling through Colombia˙ If you have something interesting to add to the list, post them in the comments˙ We’ll post the ones that are too true not to post and the ones that make us giggle a little˙

1˙ Colombia is not as dangerous as your “news” stations claim˙

2˙ Colombians are some of the most generous people we’ve met˙

3˙ But watch out for “tourists traps”˙ Taxi drivers & beach vendors will try to squeeze you for every Colombian peso˙

4˙ Money: $1 US Dollar/$1 Euro ≈ $2,897 Colombian Peso˙

5˙ Eat the coconut rice˙ It’s delicious!

Go fishing in Taganga with a local fisherman,
then enjoy the lunch you caught overlooking the Caribbean sea˙

7˙ Did you now that there is a Caribbean side to Colombia!

8˙ It’s #@!&% hot in Santa Marta/Taganga˙ Find a place with AC and go to the beaches.. often!

9˙ Go fishing in Taganga with a local fisherman, then enjoy the lunch you caught overlooking the Caribbean sea˙

10˙ Sleep underneath the Moon & Stars in Tayrona Park… in a hammock!

11˙ Drink Chicha! A traditional Colombian drink made with fermented maize, yuca, quinoa, pineapple & potatoes˙ Be careful, it’s stronger than you think!

12˙ Take a carriage ride through The Walled City in Cartagena de Indias and go back in time˙

13˙ Take a walk through the Candelaria, the old neighborhood of the capital city and try Ajiaco˙ A rich chicken soup, with 3 different types of potato, avocado, corn, capers and topped with sour cream˙ (you made need to walk this off)

Sleep underneath the Moon & Stars in Tayrona Park… in a hammock!

14˙ Take in a beautiful sunset at El Mirador La Paloma˙ Stay a little longer and have the traditional Canelazo drink, between the lights of the stars and beautiful skyline˙

15˙ There are dinosaurs in Colombia! Visit  ‘El Fosil’ and see 1 of the 3 known, near complete Kronosaurus fossils on Earth˙

16˙ Then stroll through the 443yr old colonial town of Villa de Leyva˙

17˙ Don’t leave Colombia without going to San Andres˙ This place has some of the most beautiful waters on this Planet˙ Known as the Sea of 7 Colors˙

18˙ Snorkel Johnny Cay and the Aquarium and get up close with some beautiful species of fish & coral˙

19˙ San Andres is actually closer to Nicaragua than Colombia˙

20˙ Colombia borders 5 countries: Brazil, Peru, Ecuador, Peru & Venezuela˙

21˙ Colombia is the 2nd most biodiverse country in the world˙ It’s actually classified as a “megadiverse” country˙

22˙ The indigenous peoples of Colombia are: the Muisca, the Quimbaya & the Tayrona tribes˙

23˙ If you’re into birds, Colombia has the largest diversity of birds in the world; around 1,879 different species!

24˙ Cuidad Perdida, Colombia’s Lost City is 650 years older than Machu Picchu˙
